first I cant find rdesktop

the rest are just bizarre, whenever I change the color style, the screen gets all f'd up - almost like it doesnt like the graphics card or something..

cant get icons to appear - etc...

just weird

Do you have a Dell from about 2 years ago?

GX100 - I think they are about 2-3 years old -
gonna suck if you tell me there is something intrinsicly fvck'd with dells - figures!!

what about rdesktop, I am looking all over to how to launch that

Try doing the following:

Change the color style first, then choose "Enhance" after you are happy with the color style.

or:

Change the color style.
Press CTL-ALT-BACKSPACE
Type in "startx" and press ENTER

FYI, if your computer won't boot with correct video after you are done with DSL and then try rebooting, try unplugging the computer for 10 seconds or so and try again.
