Slightly off the previous praise-heaping topic of DSL's general greatness:

Yes, Ruby is amazing. Matz is a genius, and the community is kind, gentle and uplifting to work with. I find it a trip to use Ruby, still marvelling at the syntax' smartness.

As a side note, I might add that the hardware I was using was this:

Toshiba Satellite 2520CDS (specs of the old laptop).
