i learned of, dl'ed, burnt and booted DSL today. im using it this very moment to make this post! :)

this is absolulty awsome!

it's on an amd athalon 1.1 64k cache with 512k ram. all devises are built into mother board with the adition of mad dog nvidia graphics card.

i have several old pc's that could be brought back to life with this OS.

my plan for rigging a pc in the car can happen now since a hard drive is nolonger needed. the way i drive, an HD would be damaged before i get out of the driveway >:)

today is the best day of my life!
thnks

you might try DSL installed on a Compact Flash card, and CF-to-IDE adapter, available in the DSL Store

oh, and *ahem*

I had some thoughts of making an MP3 car player out of an old laptop,
I was planning to use a USBkey to boot DSL and store some mp3's ..
I like the idea of the compact flash card .. but I was going to leave the HD in it.

Now that ndiswrapper works so well, and these Microsoft MN720 cards
seem to be everywhere for $15 or so, it would be cool to "load up" your
playlist from inside the house via wireless before your road trip or commute.

Seems like I could "link" from the office to the car as well, to take files home, etc..
I was going to use an FM transmitter from the line-out of the laptop to broadcast
to the car radio on an unused frequency..

The laptop says 15V , but I've used a cigarette lighter cable to power it up
during mobile contests and other road trips without issues...
The transmitter also works on 12-15V ..
