User Feedback :: 0.8.2 ISO too large for business card CDRs
Hi,
Shouldn't:
dd if=/dev/cdrom of=dsl.iso
work, to produce a file which I can check against the md5sum?
Because it doesn't seem to be working for me with the DSL iso's I'm burning... even to 700MB CD-Rs :-(
And my system seems stuck on trying to read the disc at the 51392512 byte point - I'm unable to stop the dd process or "forceably" eject the disc.

Hi,
I'm stumped... on a P3 all my "51392512 byte" CD-Rs appear to boot fine (I'm using FireFox via DSL 0.8.2 to write this)... why can't my laptop booting from a floppy see them then?
And why is dd "failing" on me? :-(

Try using the "dd" command on your P3 box. Maybe your laptop's CDROM drive is the culprit.
Hi,
That was on my P3 :-/
Anyhow... I finally managed to get DSL 0.8.2 installed on my old IBM laptop! I finally smarten'ed up and burned it to regular 700MB CD-R! The dd test is still failing, and my business card sized CD-Rs only hold 49MB... but that's beside the point now... I'm happy to have gotten this far.
Now... to read up on why I can't get video the way I want :-( Any nice icons for an 8 bit display?

What is the model of your IBM laptop ?
And does the 700MB cdr work now on the P3 as well ?
My IBM laptop does not like the mini cdrs either ...
