User Feedback :: How will this system fare?

Hi,

I've got a really old PC that'll be free'd up soon when i get a new system so i'd quite like to use DSL on it but i'm not sure if it'll run. My main concern is that the system only has 8MB of ram (it had more but i think a stick went pop or came loose but i'll only know whats up when i get my new system). Would that be okay to run it? I'm thinkin that on some things it would struggle but i'm really just looking to have it as a fileserver or something like that.

You could try and boot a DSL cd on it, but you might want to use the knoppix cheatcode:
boot: knoppix 2
That will get it up in text only, not a GUI, with X.
